Sunroof vs. Moonroof: What Honda Includes

Honda calls this feature a one-touch power moonroof with tilt. It is a glass panel in the roof that opens rearward, tilts for ventilation, and includes a manually operated sliding sunshade for bright days. The one-touch control means a single press opens or closes it fully without holding the switch. An auto-reverse feature stops and reverses the panel if it detects resistance while closing.

The Sport Hybrid is the least expensive Civic with a moonroof at $29,395 for the sedan and $30,595 for the hatchback. It also bundles the moonroof with heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control, so these features arrive together rather than individually.

The Civic Si includes a moonroof despite being a performance trim. It is one of the few upgrades the Si carries over from the Sport Touring Hybrid's comfort list. For a driver who wants the manual transmission, the Si delivers a moonroof, heated seats, Google built-in, and Bose audio in the same package.

The Type R does not have a moonroof. Honda intentionally omits it to reduce weight and maintain structural rigidity for track use. The roof panel adds mass and slightly reduces the roof's stiffness, both of which work against the Type R's performance goals. If a moonroof is a firm requirement, the Type R is the wrong choice regardless of budget.
